Soy isoflavones can be a great supplement to take when you’re trying to conceive, especially if you have ovulatory problems. People have gone as far as saying that Soy Isoflavones are Nature’s Clomid. So what is this miracle and who needs it?

What are Soy Isoflavones?

Soy Isoflavones are a natural supplement taken by women with ovulatory problems, such as ovulating very late into your cycle, or not ovulating at all. For example, a woman who doesn’t ovulate until cycle day 40, causing a 53 day cycle may want to consider taking Soy Isoflavones. This supplement works the same way that clomid does –by binding to your estrogen receptors and tricking your body into thinking that it’s not producing enough estrogen. This cases your body to produce more FSH, the hormone that causes your follicles to mature so that you can ovulate.

When do I take Soy Isoflavones?

The supplement is taken the same days of your cycle that clomid would be taken. The days clomid is commonly taken are cycle days 2-6, 3-7, or 5-9. The best way to consume isoflavones is in the form soy or soy foods, where you can benefit from other healthy components of say. The highest amounts can be found in soy nuts, tempeh and red clover.

How much do I take?

100 mg of Soy Isoflavones are equal to about 50 mg of clomid. A good idea is to start with 100-150 mg of Soy Isoflavones each of the 5 days you take it, and increase the dosage if needed.

Who may want to try it?

It is not the best idea to take Soy Isoflavones or any fertility supplement if you do not need it. This can mess up a perfectly healthy cycle and cause more harm than good when trying to conceive. That said certain people may want to give “nature’s clomid” a go. People with irregular menstrual cycle, people who have very long cycles, and people who do not ovulate at all may want to try the natural version of clomid before seeking help from a fertility doctor.

As always before you try any need medication or natural medicinal method always contact your doctor to make sure that it is ok. Certain people should not take Soy Isoflavones. This includes people with thyroid problems, sensitivity to soy, and people who have no known fertility or ovulation problems.

Studies are starting to prove the effectiveness of this natural method, and countless people are trying it out. Other health benefits of Soy Isoflavones include protection against breast cancer, prostate cancer, menopausal symptoms, heart disease and osteoporosis. Many of the health benefits of soy are derived from its isoflavones.

Just remember that if you do try taking Soy Isoflavones, don’t take too high of a dose, and always listen to your body. If you react badly to Soy Isoflavones stop taking them. If after 3 cycles of using the Soy Isoflavones you haven’t noticed an improvement in your cycles it may be time to seek the help of a fertility specialist.
